Art & Design – What are the differences?

Friday, June 4th, 2010

The argument that differentiates art & design is baffling & has been counted over a period of time. Both artists & designers create visually interactive stuffs using accord knowledge, but the purpose they are doing is completely distinctive. Many designers think themselves as artists, but only some artists think themselves as designers.

Hence, what is the difference exists between a designer & an artist?

In this blog, lets compare some of the important axioms among them.

Design Actuates :

The basic difference between design & art relies on purposes.
The procedure for innovating art of work starts from nowhere. An art roots from a view (or) cause (or) feeling that artist feels within himself. Art is created to accord the feeling with others. That is, the viewers to learn & get motivated by it. The success of an art renowns a strong bonding between an artist & the target audience.
When a designer sire a new visual, they have a starting place, can be a esteem, inspired visual, an idea or a purpose. The designer’s part is not to innovate something brand new, but to express some thing that is already present for a purpose. Mostly, that purpose always inspires the target audience to get a product, a service, choose a tourism spot, learn some information. The best design is to inspire the target audience to go for a purpose.

Art Illustrates. Design comprehends.

Another main characteristic exists between design & art is the communiqué interpreted for the respective audiences. Though an artist conveys a cause (or) emotional feeling, that does not mean that it has single synonym in that. Art consociate with people in various ways, because it is interpreted differently.
Mona Lisa art has been analyzed & argued for a long time. Why does she Smile? Reasearch says that, it is an illusion created by lateral vision. Love tails tells she is in love. Agnostic says there is no reason behind. To be honest, none of them is right (or) wrong.
The basic essential of a design is to deliver a message properly & inspire the target audience to do something.
If a design is misinterpreted & the target audience do something different than what a designer has intended to, then the design fails.

Art posseses Talent. Design requires Skill.

What are the abilities?
Commonly, an artist posseses their natural capability. From kindergarden, an artist develops by drawing, coloring, painting & develop their abilities. The real value of an artist is the ability they are born with. The bridge exists is, good atrists does possess their skill, but without the exposure of talent they are worthless.
Well, design is cool skill that is learned. It is not necessary to be an excellent artist to become a designer. One has to understand the objectives & implement them properly.
In this modern world, great designers are pronowned for simplest styles. Designers don’t concentrate on color/texture, but they pay more importance for spacing, aligning all etc. can be inherited without born talent.

Art defines many messages. Design defines same message.

This part correlates with the 2nd point view.
Lot of designers cogitate themselves as artists because they innovate something visually pleasing. But the visual interaction signifies a specific purpose (or) promotion, no matter how attractive it is, it is not considered as art. It is simply a mode of communication with a purpose. Some artists cogitate themselves as designers as they understand the dfference better. Artists does not innovate a art to promote a product/service, they truely do it to express views for the target audience. Art, is not about fact it is to feel.

Should new (or) upcoming business consider Flash for their development?

Thursday, May 13th, 2010

Over a period of time, Adobe Flash has been most popular in developing rich multimedia 2-D websites & web applications. Since, 1996 Flash is the most popular technology which plays most of the videos in the websites. With complete package what Adobe offers, universal accessible rate for Adobe’s plank has been so simple & easy.

In the recent times, the scenario has changed a lot. The developments in technology, increase of smart phones for small businesses, developing mobile application has made flash almost omitted on these devices. And not to forget, popular phone iPhone will never support Flash technology anymore.

When Apple unveiled the iPad early this year, the corporate dropped the support completely for flash. Thus, arised a huge debate for the future of Flash. Many people started to argue that Flash technology is in doubt after Apple dropped its support.

While Apple dropped its support for Handy(Mobile) device, that should not be any concern for any small businesses. But one should think that, Is it neccessary to develop applications in flash which might not have future? Flash might be one of the best multimedia applications exists, but what when one cannot access it?

One cannot disagree the advantages exists in Flash technology : It is considered as easiest application of Adobe package. More than 90% of Internet enabled computers can access the technology, it also intensifies in creating amazing websites & web application. Out of world artistic creation is possible which old browsers does not support.

Here is the most important thing : Since the introduction HTML5(Next generation web standard) the importance for flash has started paring down. HTML5 allows the developer to do most of the things what flash does including video playing. Its not just Apple is backing up HTML5 rather than flash, so does Microsoft & other big companies. With iPad & iPhone reputation is becoming dexterous, lot of people will get access to devices that will not support Flash.

Hence, here is my thought : Determine which plank(platform) to develop, future for the need, potential audience, essential of multimedia. Once again, for rich multimedia experience flash is still the best for now. But if you are going to develop applications based on Mobile devices, then flash needed to be avoided at any costs.

It is hard to make a decision on future of Flash, but for me the technology will not last longer & will be outdated very soon. But one cannot deny the good days behind the technology.

Adobe drops further development for Apple iPhone

Wednesday, May 5th, 2010

When Apple announced the iPhone Developer License agreement, adobe has surmised to drop out its support for iPhone. Most of its applications in CS5 including will not be supported for iPhone.

Adobe said that, no further investments (or) development programme will be developed for Iphone after CS5 because of the License Agreement.

The agreement states, only approved API’s suggested by Apple alone can be used & no private API’s should be installed. Application should be developed in programming languages C++(includes C) (or) javascript as supportive by Iphone OS. Application that uses another mediator translation, assenting layer (or) tool cannot be used. It also indicates, application developed based Flash CS5 is forbidden & that make Adobe pointless to develop software for iPhone anymore.

After Apple enforcing these terms, developers should be ready to expunge the existing applications developed in Flash CS5. There are more than 200 + applications available in the IiTunes store.

Many believe that, there is no real motive & strategic benifits behind this decision. It would not be ideal for Apple to allow another company to flourish ahead of iPhone.
