Hotmail enhances its e-mail technology to compete with Google & Yahoo

Microsoft’s free e-mail service(Hotmail) transfiguring towards a new overture hoping that Hotmail edges over its rivalries Google & Yahoo’s e-mail service.

The upgraded version of the e-mail service is expected to reach its users by July (or) August. Category wise sorting of e-mails (or) messages & also manage key contacts & social networking. When an e-mail is received with attachment(Videos, Photos & other popular formats), preview feature is available without opening the attachment.

New tools are added to make the free e-mail service to be adorable & more easily usable for sending images, videos, documents etc. . Another cool thing is enabling of accessing/syncing hotmail with mobile phones.

Microsoft excutive Mr. Jones said that, our e-mail service wasn’t offering the best as it was capable of. The main thing about the renovation to make sure the users don’t spend much time in managing their mail boxes rather they should spend more time with reading their e-mails (or) messages.

Microsoft hopes that by adding new features will change the thoughts of the users that Hotmail is not being zestless as its rivals Google & Yahoo are adding more & more exciting features to their e-mail service.

Over a period of time, even though Microsoft only made few variance, still it remains the largest using free e-mail service with more than 350 million users followed by second largest Yahoo(More than 280 million) & third gmail(170 Million & above).

Hotmail mainly concentrates on providing new ways of presenting videos & photos through e-mail. It expects this feature should become popular as more than 52% of storage consumed by photos & videos as attachments.

Hotmail’s new technology will check out if an e-mail composed of image as attachment & flaunt its thumbnail automatically. It will also provide similar kind of preview if it finds links of photos & videos sharing websites(Youtube, Flickr …).

Lot of modifications are made to make the e-mail sending easier. A new progress/status bar will enable users to check out their usage upto 10GB & Photo attachment upto 50MB by adding their photos to skydrive(Free online storage provided by hotmail) where only the recipients can view it.

LinkedIn introduce Follow model from Twitter

IT Corporates won’t give up IE6

Web Analysts, Security experts, technology nerds & even microsoft have recommended all the Information Technology commune to upgrade IE6(Internet Explorer6), yet most of the popular surveys suggested that IE6 is hanging around & doing pretty well, especially during the business hours. The usage stats counts around close to 20%.

A popular advertising network has conducted a recent research & the study showed that IE 6 usage ranked 4th among all browsers. The study also suggested that, IE6 is been used more at the Business hours/WOrking hours & the browser usage ranks down after the working hours. The same scenario were observed at the week ends too.

The study also showed that when IE6 usage drops, other popular browsers like Chrome, Firefox, IE8 usage were increased. The usage proved to be more in the off-business hours.

The study proved that users use technological advanced browsers at home than at work. Looking at the funnier side, employees of top corporates are switching over to the advanced/secured browsers at home, whereas the IT corporates sustains with IE6 to keep it live. IE6 was introduced in the year 2001 along with Microsoft windows Xp. Currently, microsoft is upgrading its browser version to IE9 & set to include advanced web standards like HTML 5, CSS3 etc.

Internet Explorer 6 :

Microsoft have said that, it will support IE6 till 2014. New service package 3 will be available in July’10.
Google said that, it will stop its most of its services(Gmail, Calendar…) supporting IE6 after google identified that hackers from China tried to broke into their network. That was due to vulneribilities of IE6. Youtube have stopped their services in IE 6 this March.

It’s pretty much sure that IE6 funeral is certain. It’s wistful to see this happening, after all IE 6 have ruled the web browser world for almost close to a decade. Popular statistics including W3schools showed that IE 6 had 70% of users for a long period of time. Still, it is inevitable to end the IE 6 usage.
